Surgical Services for Pets

During procedures, we prioritize your dog and cat’s safety with anesthesia.

Our experienced veterinarians provide many surgical services at our clinic, ranging from routine to advanced operations. Because we want to ensure our patients receive the best possible outcome, we occasionally refer them to specialists (board-certified veterinary surgeons) to perform complex operations when advanced equipment or training will be beneficial. Our veterinary team takes every precaution so your pet receives the highest-quality care. We perform a physical exam and pre-anesthetic testing before surgery, monitor your pet during surgery, and provide appropriate pain medication to keep your pet comfortable during recovery. Is anesthesia safe for dogs and cats?

Making sure our patients remain safe during surgery and other medical procedures is extremely important to us. Our veterinarians and veterinary technicians are skilled in using anesthesia and monitoring patients to ensure their safety and provide the most comfortable experience. Anesthesia and patient monitoring vary greatly from clinic to clinic. You can be confident we use the most effective and up-to-date protocols. The type of anesthesia we use depends on the procedure. Some require general anesthesia, while others may only call for local anesthesia. We also closely monitor every procedure, regardless of whether it is routine or more advanced.

How can I prepare my cat or dog for surgery?

To minimize the risk of vomiting during and after anesthesia, it's crucial for the surgery to be performed on an empty stomach. In some cases, small dogs under 15 lbs. may be allowed to have 1/4 of a meal before surgery. Food should be withheld for a minimum of 8 to 10 hours prior to the procedure, but water can be provided until the morning of surgery. Our team will provide further instructions and address additional preparations necessary before the operation.

What measures can you take to ease my anxiety before my pet’s procedure?

We acknowledge that surgery can cause anxiety and stress for pet owners. Concerns may arise regarding the well-being of your pet and the safety measures in place during the procedure. When you book an appointment at our clinic, be reassured your pet will receive excellent care. Our team consists of highly skilled and experienced professionals who prioritize providing the best possible treatment for your pet and alleviating concerns you may have. In addition to routine procedures such as spaying and neutering, we also specialize in orthopedic and soft tissue surgeries, including head & neck osteotomy and lumpectomy.
