Hello, I'm Dr. Cara Loney. My journey in the world of animal care began over 13 years ago right here at Walden, where I started as a high school co-op student, worked in kennel care, as a receptionist , and then as an animal care assistant.
I earned my Bachelor of Science in Zoology at Laurentian University and later graduated from the University of Glasgow School of Veterinary Medicine with a BVMS degree. During my time at Glasgow, I served as the president of the Glasgow CVMA student association and received the Professor Ian McIntyre memorial prize for outstanding practical performance.
In addition to my formal education, I also spent 8 years as a volunteer at the Sudbury District Kennel Club, teaching and competing in agility. A highlight of competition was in 2017 when my Havanese, Ella, won third Havanese in Canada for CKC agility. This experience deepened my understanding of the bond between pets and their owners. Ella is retired now and enjoys being a spoiled senior.
I'm particularly passionate about preventative medicine, mobility and weight-loss care, and senior pet well-being. I look forward to meeting you and your pets, providing them with the best care possible.
